Alex Ross
Alex Ross (1968, Washington, USA) began his career at The New York Times in 1992, and has been music critic for The New Yorker since 1996. He is known for his enthusiasm for bringing classical music to a new public, and for his interest in pop artists such as Radiohead and Björk. His first book, The Rest is Noise (2007), won the National Book Critics Circle Award, was nominated for the Pulitzer, and named among the top ten books of 2007 by The New York Times. In 2008 he was awarded the MacArthur Genius Grant. His blog (therestisnoise.com) collects his essays and his New Yorker reviews.
