FLIP reaches the end of 2009 with important definitions made for the coming year: the 8th edition will be held between August 4 and 8 and will pay tribute to the sociologist Gilberto Freyre. With Brazil’s higher profile on the international scene coupled with strong economic performance and its status as host nation for the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games, the decision to celebrate the first author to analyze the formation of Brazilian society from a positive perspective ought to fuel heated debate in Paraty.
